On the 2nd of November the Czech Parliament passed a law, which instructed
new firms to be able to master the Czech language. To obtain trade licences
at least one person in the company must speak Czech perfectly and the person if not Czech, must prove his or her competency by passing an exam. Existing companies must pass the test within one
year. If the test is failed, it can result in the trade licence being revoked.
The law was in effect from the 1st of April 1996.
