Now Budapest metro has 3 lines with trains running at regular intervals of 3-4 minutes. M1 - (yellow line): Millenary underground railway: Vörösmarty tér-Mexikói út M2 - (red line): Dáli pályaudvar - Örs vezér tér M3 - (blue line): Újpest, Városközpont - Kõbánya-Kispest The 3 lines cross in the Inner City, at Deák tér. Trains run every 2-5 minutes from 4.30 a.m. to 11.10 p.m. Local train services (HÉV) operate from Budapest to Csepel Island in the south of the city and to the nearby towns of Szentendre, Gödöllõ and Ráckeve.

METRO MAP

BUS and TRAM
Budapest public transport has a network of 153 bus routes, 15 trolley bus and 33 tram routes, 3 metro lines and 4 suburban train (HÉV) lines. The network of tram (villamos) and buses provides a fast way to get around. Buses, trams and trolley buses generally operate from 4.30 a.m. to 11 p.m. through the day. At night, however, public transport operates as well through major city routes (night bus timetables are posted at stops and in most metro stations). Tram and bus tickets can be bought at metro stations or from street kiosks.

TAXIS
There is an adequate supply of taxis to meet the demand in Budapest, and it is not a great deal to choose between the state company and private ones. Some known taxi companies are:Budataxi, Citytaxi, Fxtaxi or Tele 5 taxi. Taxi meter should be on through the journey, otherwise client is not obliged to pay. Tipping is expected.

The current flat rate for a taxi journey is around 200 HUF (6am to 10pm) with an additional 200 forints for every kilometre travelled and a waiting fee of 50 HUF. Note that few cab drivers speak English.
